What should you be aware of when you are having a down on? When you are wearing a down, please do not sit close to the fire, especially the campfire. The sparks may get on to your down and make some damages. If any feather comes out from the stitch, please do not pull it out. That is because good down are made of high quality down feather, which are in big roll; if you pull the feather our, you will damage the down. The right way is using one hand to pull the feather back into the down while the other hand holding the fabric cloth.
Can every people wear down? Is it useful for all people? The answer is no. Some people may get allergic to the down. If this happens, please take it off, stop wearing it, and go to see a doctor in time.
Can we wear down in heave rain? Down has the property of anti-water, but it only stops solid state water, such as snow and ice. The thread / stitch place does not have glue on; therefore, it actually does not prevent water from coming in. This tells us that we should not wear down in heavy rain.
What shall we do if the down gets holes? If there is a hole on the down, you can try to do this: find a nail polish that has the same color as the down has; put some on that part so that the hole will be covered; in this way, feather will not come out from the hole.
Winter is not long, so what should we do with the down when we do not need it? Please put the down at a dry, shady and cool place, and make sure the down is clean. Some people can get a compress bag when they are buying a down. However, the compress bag is only a temporary choice. The down can not be put into the compress bag for a long time; otherwise, the down will lose its elasticity, and then lose the ability to keep people warm. If you do not use the down for a long time, you are suggested to neaten the down regularly, like once per 2 months, to unfold it completely and let air make it dry.
If the down is compressed for a long time, it is not going to be that fluffy. What you need to do now is put it on yourself, or hang it on the hanger, pat it gently for several times, so that the down will become fluffy again.
How to dry the down? Down should be dried by airing in a ventilated and dry place. Avoid the directly sunshine, because the ultraviolet rays will damage the down's surface. You can use the large dryer, but the down has to be dried under low temperature, and it needs enough room to roll. After it is dried, please shake and pat the uneven part (means the feather collects together) of the down, in order to make the feather distributed evenly and help the down recover its original shape.
