What do the lights on a Linksys WRT110 Rangeplus router stand for?
I just want to make sure I know what those LEDs on the front of the router mean, and which ones should be on if I have one laptop connected to the wireless network(plus my main wired computer of course).
I've looked in the little manual that came with the router, plus the online manual, but I can't find anything that says what those lights stand for.
I cannot tell you specifically what the LED lights on this router represent, but most lights on routers show pretty much the same activity. My router is a Belkin and it uses LED picture icons which shows when the wired, wireless, router, and WWW is properly connected. Now, the wireless section can't tell me when somebody is actually using that portion of my configuration, only that it is enabled and working correctly.
So, I can pretty much hazard a good guess that these lights are the power light, LAN light or wired connection, wireless connection, and maybe one for showing security is active. There may also be one which indicates that the overall connection to the Internet is sound, at least as far as the router goes. Other issues could exist which interfere in establishing or maintaining a connection to the Internet, but having a light shows that it isn't an issue of the router, though that can be deceiving. Often, even with my WWW light showing proper connectivity, unplugging the power cord to the router for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in (reboot) fixes many issues.
What I am trying to say is that knowing what the lights are can be helpful in diagnosing connectivity issues, but they are not any guarantee that they are accurate. I find it really odd that your manual doesn't indicate what each light represents. I believe you, I just think that sucks and I would never buy that model.
